Doctor-led skin rejuvenation treatments in the Whitsundays

Skin rejuvenation

Market-leading devices, experienced clinicians

Here in the beautiful Whitsundays, sun exposure is a fact of life. Much of our skin rejuvenation work seeks to address sun damage in its many forms, from surface pigmentation and redness to rough, scaly areas of more significant photodamage.

Our treatment suite includes advanced laser platforms, radiofrequency technologies, and a range of skin resurfacing treatments, allowing us to tailor a plan to your skin’s specific needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

At Whitsunday Cosmedics Skin Clinic, we always begin with a thorough assessment to ensure we understand you and your skin before making any recommendations. As a doctor-led clinic, our assessments include a dermoscopic review of any lesions, enabling medical care usually offered in a skin cancer clinic.

Could skin rejuvenation treatments help me?

Skin rejuvenation treatments address a wide range of concerns. Because different skin concerns respond to different technologies, we match each treatment recommendation to your skin, not the other way around.

Here are some of the most common reasons patients come to see us.

what you need to know

Pigmentation and dark spots

Uneven pigmentation is one of the most common skin concerns we treat. Melanin is the pigment that gives your skin its colour and, over the years, it can concentrate in certain areas, causing freckles, age spots, and sun-damaged spots known as seborrheic keratosis.

After assessing your skin, we may recommend one of the following laser pigmentation reduction treatments (or a combination of them) tailored to the type and depth of your pigmentation.

Acne and acne scarring

Acne can cause redness, inflammation, enlarged pores, texture changes and, in some cases, deeper scarring.

As a doctor-led cosmetic clinic, we understand both the medical and personal aspects of acne. We can offer evidence-based advice on broader acne care, ensuring your series of laser treatments forms part of a comprehensive plan, which may include a chemical peel.

tick
V-beam Prima vascular laserTM

For redness, inflammation, and red marks left by past breakouts.

tick
Candela PicoWayTM

Stimulates collagen remodelling, helping to improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of scarring.

tick
Candela SublativeTM

A radiofrequency skin treatment that delivers energy through a grid of electrodes placed on the skin surface.

Redness and rosacea

Facial redness may be driven by vascular changes beneath the skin surface or by a chronic inflammatory condition called rosacea. Some people experience persistent flushing, diffuse redness, or broken capillaries.

The VBeam Prima vascular laser is our primary treatment for rosacea and facial redness.

  • Pulsed dye laser, delivering intense bursts of light.
  • Light absorbed by specific blood vessels or pigment in the dermis.
  • Highly targeted to reduce redness without affecting surrounding skin.

Skin laxity

Skin gradually loses collagen and elasticity over time, which can change its texture and soften the jawline.

Radiofrequency microneedling using the Candela Matrix ProTM offers a non-surgical option that may help to tighten skin and stimulate collagen, with no heat or chemicals involved.

  • Creates microscopic injuries in the skin using a fine grid of needles (e-Matrix device)
  • Delivers radiofrequency energy beneath the skin surface.
  • Microtrauma triggers a controlled repair response from your body, prompting it to produce new collagen and regenerate cells.

Foundational skin treatments

Alongside our laser and radiofrequency skin rejuvenation treatments, we offer a range of skin resurfacing and maintenance treatments that complement more advanced procedures or work well as standalone options for patients earlier in their skin health journey.

The dead, outermost layer of skin cells has no blood supply but can dull skin tone and limit the penetration of active ingredients from skin treatments or routine skincare products. There are various ways to remove this layer of dead cells so that newer skin can take its place.

Paramedical-grade Ultraceuticals skin peels

Skin peels use a carefully selected combination of chemicals to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells.

Ultraceuticals peels are formulated with a combination of lactic acid, mandelic acid, AHAs, and skin-brightening agents, making them well-suited to concerns including pigmentation, acne, uneven texture, and dehydration.

During your initial consultation, our doctors will recommend the appropriate peel strength based on your skin concerns and skin type.

We offer two options depending on your skin’s needs.

Both treatments are suitable for all skin types and require no downtime.

Dermaplaning (also known as demablading)uses a sterile scalpel blade that gently glides over the skin to remove dead skin cells and fine facial hair from the skin surface.

Sun damage and skin health in the Whitsundays

The Whitsunday region’s UV index is consistently among the highest in Australia. Sun damage on the skin may range from surface freckles and uneven pigmentation to deeper textural changes, seborrheic keratosis, and, in some cases, lesions that benefit from medical assessment before cosmetic skin rejuvenation treatment.

At Whitsunday Cosmedics Skin Clinic, skin rejuvenation and skin health are not treated as separate concerns. Dr McCann’s background in skin cancer medicine, dermoscopy, and laser medicine means that every skin consultation considers the full picture. Your treatment recommendations are grounded in a genuine understanding of what your skin needs, not just what it looks like.
